Emma, Abby, and I just returned from about 48 hours in the water. Great Wolf Lodge is like nothing I’ve ever experienced before. Thousands of square feet of water park – all indoors. Slides, a gigantic wave pool, and a bucket that dumps about 10,000 gallons of water on anyone in its proximity about every 5 minutes. It was noisy. It was crowded. And it was great fun!
I’ve never been on a water slide in my life so this was quite a stretch for me. Once I went down the first one, however, was hooked. Abby and I took a two-person raft down the bigger, scarier slides and then finally succumbed to the ultimate challenge: The Howlin’ Tornado. Once was more than enough on that one…clearly my limit. Emma took a full day to build up her courage (and with much bribery on my part) but finally tried the smaller slides – realizing she loved it too! It wasn’t long before all three of us were sliding down at high speeds, splashing into the pool that awaited at the bottom, and then hiking right back up the stairs (long lines included) to do it again.
A great two days. So good to just play and laugh and scream out loud! It will be days before I feel like all the chlorine is out of my hair and skin but far longer before I forget these amazing memories.
