OK…one book to buy right now and another to watch for – not yet published but on the way:
1) Leadership Divided by Ron A. Carucci. I’m biased, I know, but I work for this guy and know that he believes deeply in that which he writes. It’s a powerful book with a great narrative that runs throughout – all moving toward a better understanding of incumbent and emergent leaders; what both need the other to know; and how to work together toward the future. It’s worth getting. And…more shameless promotion…if you like this book and one I spoke of earlier, Leading with a Limp by Dan Allender, you’ve GOT to attend THE LEADERSHIP CRUCIBLE. Lots of links, I know, but all worth connecting to, looking into, and pursuing!
2) Chasing Sophia by Lillian Calles Barger. Yet to be released, I’ve been given the privilege of reading the manuscript this week. I’m about a third of the way through and can hardly wait to recommend it to a ton of women friends. Here’s what she says in her introduction:
“Women experience the pursuit of wisdom in their own unique ways. Among different cultures, women have historically been a symbol of wisdom but are often curiously denied access to it. To see women as wisdom-bearers, we have to unravel centuries of often unspoken understanding about women’s relation to rationality and intuition…Along the way I will look to Jesus as the embodiment of Divine Wisdom, and his teaching as a guide for our journey. In chasing Sophia we may find ourselves with the power to speak and act as true spiritual knowers and in relationship to God. Only then will many of us consider ourselves to be truly wise.”
I’ve ordered six new books just this week from Amazon – in addition to receiving the two above. I probably ought to pursue a job as a professional reader or review-writer. So much out there that is so worth reading…Maybe these two recommendations will hone your own list down and give you some choices you might not otherwise have considered. I hope so!
