The Best Preachers?

I just came across a link that referenced Christianity Today naming the 25 most influential preachers in America.

All were men. OK…there were the two women who made the honorable mention list.

In another 50 years I deeply hope this list is far different – populated by amazing women who have been preaching (speaking, writing, and living) in influential ways for many years, but who are now noticed, acknowledged, honored, and esteemed. Actually, in another 50 years this probably won’t be anything we’re still “listing.” Still, I am confident that the same amazing women will still be doing amazing things – all of which deserve to be known, seen, and heard. May it be so!

The question shouldn’t be if these preachers are women or men; the question in fact is: the Catholic Church has a tradition, that is, only men can be preachers. If one person disagrees with that, it should go and look for another kind of church, because what mantains the Catholic Church united as one is its tradition. And, to be rational, one just cannot break that in cause of one or another sign of secularism.
