The Art of Aging – Part One

I have the privilege of guest-posting today (and next week) at Feed the Beauty – the blog of the beautiful Sophie Lumen. If you haven’t heard of her, read her posts (and books), or seen her art, a huge gift awaits you.

Somehow, she found me. I am grateful.

I don’t often think about aging…or the fact that I am definitely doing so. The process of considering such on behalf of Sophie’s stunning and deeply moving project caused me to pause, to think, to reflect, and ultimately strengthen and appreciate my own experience of such.

I am glad to be the age I am. It does not frighten me. I do not hold back. This year I will turn 50. It feels powerful, alluring, strong, and yes, beautiful. Better stated? I feel powerful, alluring, strong, and yes, beautiful. I did not feel that way at 20, 30, or even 40. It’s about time.

Thanks, Sophie. What a gift you are.

And ahhhh, the power of your name (derived from Sophia – yet another manifestation of the Sacred Feminine) is not lost on me.
