The Alchemy of Conversation

I had five amazing conversations yesterday.

Conversation #1:

I had an ongoing text stream with a dear friend that lasted from about 6:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. We joked. We laughed. We told the truth. And we wished we weren’t texting. But in the midst, we were also aware of the gift we are to one another; the “presence” that exists and pervades, even if not in proximity. All good.

Conversation #2:

I met a new friend for coffee who I’d previously known only via Twitter. The virtual connection was just a foretaste of the connection we experienced in person. We talked about our past, our present, our future, spirituality vs. religion, faith vs. works, healing, finances, Catholic school, missionaries, and even social media (all in one hour!). So much resonance. So many overlappinig themes. So much more time needed and wanted before I was called away to…

Conversation #3:

I met a former colleague who is both friend and client. We talked about blogging. We talked about messaging. We talked about theology. We talked about how all three of these could be merged. SWEETSPOT for me!

Conversation #4:

I met for more coffee with another colleague/friend with whom I haven’t talked for months. She’s someone I have admired and respected, someone to whom I look up, whose success, clarity, strength, and business savvy I hope to attain. We talked about the work/challenge/joy of developing and sustaining a business and the power of watching our internal worlds becomes a massive, guiding energy that directs everything we do – the Divine Feminine, baby.

Conversation #5:

I met virtually on a coaching call with two other fempreneurs. We talked about success, about intentions, about promises, and about the difference between stepping into the stream of our calling vs. swimming upstream.

A good day. As it should be. It was not so much the conversations themselves, though they were stunning and stellar; it was the awareness – in the moment – that they mattered. To use Lindsey’s words: “…what we have is this.  Right now.  And only this.” To be completely convinced that some alchemy was occurring that was changing things right now and that we were part of it.

I could live this days like this every day. And, truth-be-told, I often do. In these spaces, the anxiety about money, parenting, relationships, (and did I mention money?) falls away. I am 100%, no-holds-barred, completely myself. I realize that I am doing what I most love; that such is increasingly more and more true; that I am deeply grateful!

The alchemy occurs unwittingly. Were I to try and manufacture it – try to be present – try to be 100% myself, I would be working against the magic, the spirit, the force that naturally, viscerally, and even spiritually is made manifest in these spaces.

Now that I think of it, there was one more conversation of significance yesterday.

Conversation #6:

I met myself and liked who I saw, experienced, encountered. I could acknowledge and affirm that I am not too much – in conversation or in life. And I am enough - in conversation and in life. Of all conversations, this inner one is the most rare. But yesterday? Present. Accounted for. Powerful. Alchemy. Magic. Grace.

The secret is here in the present. If you pay attention to the present, you can improve upon it. And, if you improve on the present, what comes later will also be better. Forget about the future, and live each day according to the teachings, confident that God loves his [her] children. Each day, in itself, brings with it an eternity.

Fantastic day! Maybe there was something in the air or the stars – who knows – as I also had a spectacular day yesterday.

I love this. Sounds like a marvelous day, and, most of all, your most authentic way of being in the world! I agree with you, though, it cannot be forced. Somehow there are ways to remind myself to pay attention, to try to let go of the running throughts who distract me, but the truly “there” moments where I feel awed, startled by the beauty of my life … well, those come like, as you say, magic.
(run on sentence no!?)
I am sorry that I missed your teleseminar and hope you will do another one! I had a long-standing work commitment. :(

A lovely run-on sentence, Lindsey. And I’m all about the magic – finding it, creating it, enjoying it! And yes…more opportunity for teleseminars on the way! :) Thanks.

Wonderful, inspiring, confirming. I love “…the power of watching our internal worlds becomes a massive, guiding energy that directs everything we do.”

You also remind me that the conversation I have with myself, and the alchemy I have with this beautiful, ongoing, mysterious, fluid, passionate, tumbling forth LIFE itself, is the most important one — the truth in the bones, the bedrock underneath all of the rest of it.

I’m so glad you exist, Ronna, that the Universe/God/All That Is dreamed you up and placed you in the same place and time as me. Thank you for being.

Mmmm, Karen. Thank you. It’s truly beautiful, isn’t it, when we find these spaces: powerful combined energies, fast-flowing currents that carry us deeper into places of shared power and strength? As I said to Nicki: more, please!!!

I am so glad I found you! This is some powerful stuff, and well needed by me right now.

Rarely have I felt so creative, in the moment and blessed with an abundance of inspiration and support. And so important that to feel all of this now, as I embark on no less than 5 distinct journeys. I am determined to succeed at all of them, despite frequently feeling overwhelmed by all that I have taken on.

Thank you for adding something special to my journey.

Hugs and butterflies,
~T~

hmmm, resonance within.

This reminds me of the days when one is not oneself, and I always forget that a bad day is only one day, that can only last so long, and sleep will always end it. Tomorrow always has the potential to be everything that yesterday lacked.

Much can change in one day…and far less. The trick (or grace) is to notice! Thanks, Paddy.
