Stories in/of the Desert

I diverge a bit today – happy to be guest-posting over at The Journal of Cultural Conversation with Laura Cococcio for the start of Women’s History Month.

I hope you’ll go there and read it: History Matters. (Her)story Matters.

This month (and always) we honor the many stories of women who paint vivid landscapes of and in the wilderness: struggle, shadow, perseverance, creation, and life birthed out of darkness. Wild beauty!

It’s both humbling and empowering to acknowledge the broad and beautiful shoulders upon which we stand.

Thanks, Laura!

And thank you to Dorothea Lange for the incredible photo above: Migrant Mother. She herself was an admirable role model to many photojournalists and humanitarians.
