Spiritual Direction. It’s time.

Your confession:

• You don’t know how to make sense of God when you witness and live a life too-often colored by disappointment, pain, and even tragedy.

• You want to be able to understand and experience God, but you struggle profoundly with the church; unable to listen to one more sermon on “help-mates” or “submission” and longing for both stories and sermons of women who are vibrant, passionate, and ambitious.

• Your old and even cherished beliefs don’t fit with the way you live, love, and interact with your world.

• You are solid in your beliefs – the doctrine, the theology, the disciplines – but you don’t feel much of anything. You long for a faith that is passionate, emotive, impacting, rich, and real.

• You’ve known spiritual or religious harm. Your lens on patriarchy is crystal-clear. And you hope and pray there’s a God in whom you can place your devotion, your faith, your love as a smart, sophisticated, and desire-filled woman.

My confession:

It has not always been easy for me to find God in my own life (and sometimes seemingly impossible) – especially when times are darkest. To have a Spiritual Director—a wise woman with whom I could entrust my stories, my words, my tears and my celebrations—has been grace incarnate. Some days, talking with her was a glimmer of the holy that nourished my oft’ waning ability to believe, to have faith, to hope.

Another confession: I want the same for you.

This is why I am a Spiritual Director.

I have been providing Spiritual Direction for more than 20 years. I have a Masters of Divinity degree and am a Certified Spiritual Director – both powerful educational markers that have built my strong theological and praxis-based foundation. 15 years as a pastor’s wife gave me opportunity to understand the church in behind-the-scenes ways. Add in life experiences like infertility, eventual-and-miraculous parenting of two teenage daughters, a divorce, a layoff, and limitless stories of both despair and celebration. These things combined give me both the capacity to understand, to walk alongside, and to offer hard-won wisdom and deep rivers of grace.

We long for an experience of self and life that is whole, strong, and full of passion and desire. To attempt such without our very souls being vibrantly alive and “home,” is not only frustrating, but exhausting and even sad. Our lives feel disjointed, frayed on the edges, and slightly undone…and sometimes, even worse. Spiritual Direction is a relationship that gives you both permission and safe space to doubt, to ask questions, and even (maybe especially) express frustration, misunderstanding, and anger toward God so that you can come to live and love yourself, your story, and your spirituality in ways that change everything.

I provide Spiritual Direction in two distinct ways: 1:1 (via Skype) or through writing. They are distinctly different from one another and offer unique, particular benefits dependent on your needs, desires, circumstances, and story.

$500 ~ A 4-session, 2-month package 

• You’re ready to talk about this. You know it’s time.
• You want an interactive context in which to ask questions in the moment, as they occur, while you’re pondering them.
• You long to hear my response to your particular doubts, struggles, and hopes.
• You desire candid, open, honest relationship that is fueled and fed by consistent, verbal contact.
• You know you will learn more and move faster when compelled by invigorated (and deeply kind) conversation.

THE SPECIFICS

• 4 sessions over a 2-month period. 1 hour, via Skype, every-other week. Practical tools, writing exercises, and uniquely crafted processes for interim weeks. 
• You will receive In the Beginning: A Taste of Spiritual Direction. This begins our journey together and helps you begin to reflect on many of your own beliefs, questions, and areas of desire.
• You’ll complete the In the Beginning Guide and email it to me. This gives me a generous understanding of where you now stand and helps me begin mapping your couture and uniquely personalized process.
• With 24 hours after my receipt of your completed Guide, you’ll receive a link to my online scheduling tool. Choose a convenient time for our first conversation.
• On the scheduled date, we’ll step into sacred spaces of conversation and heart. Completely safe. Your pace. My guidance. Our winding, mysterious, generous path together.
• At the end of our call, I’ll provide you proven and unique-for-you exercises and practices to utilize until our next scheduled session. You’ll also receive this content via email.
• Our next session(s) will be scheduled, repeating this process – each time moving closer to places of reconciliation, understanding, strength, and an increased sense of “home.”
• Email access, as needed.
• At the end of these two months, you will have a set of tools that we’ve practiced together that will serve you in your ongoing growth and forward movement.
• Additional sessions, in 2-month increments, are available on an ongoing basis, as well as opportunity to utilize written, reflective sessions (below).

• You’re ready to write about this. You know it’s time.
• You want a paced, meditative, deep-thought context in which to ponder your questions, reflect on your stories, and learn to identify patterns that emerge powerfully in words, language, and between the lines.
• You long to see and read my response to your particular doubts, struggles, and hopes.
• You desire candid, open, honest feedback that is fueled and fed by my individualized, written thoughts on your behalf.
• You know you will learn more about yourself (and God) when you can write, reflect, and respond at a measured pace.

THE SPECIFICS

• Three rounds of personalized, directed writing over a three month period.
• You will receive In the Beginning: A Taste of Spiritual Direction. This begins our journey together and helps you begin to reflect on many of your own beliefs, questions, and areas of desire.
• You’ll complete the In the Beginning Guide and email it to me. This gives me a generous understanding of where you now stand and helps me begin mapping your couture and uniquely personalized process.
• With 24 hours after my receipt of your completed Guide, you’ll receive your first writing assignment – a series of guided, directed, step-by-step exercises and writing prompts, uniquely crafted just for you, that help you identify and write about the things that matter most…and ways to craft a written piece that you can then send to me. (Absolutely no writing skill/ability is needed.)
• After I receive your writing, I will read through it (the lines themselves and in between) and respond within one week. No template. No canned response. Just my words, insights, and “seeings” on your behalf.
• You will receive my thoughts embedded within your original writing and a new round of particular writing prompts that will move this writing to a new and deeper level. And the process repeats.
• Email access, as needed.
• At the end of these three months, you will have tools and prompts that you can continue to use for ongoing exploration and continued growth.
• Additional written sessions, in 3-month increments, are available on an ongoing basis, as well as opportunity for one-on-one conversational sessions in 2-month increments (above).
