More truth…

I got a tweet yesterday from someone asking me the origin of the Adrienne Rich quote I used in my last post. I still haven’t tracked it down, but I did come across these words – spoken by W.S. Merwin about Ms. Rich:

All her life she has been in love with the hope of telling utter truth, and her command of language from the first has been startlingly powerful.

What more need be said? If this were my epitaph, I would have lived the life I most desired; would have been known, seen, and understood in ways beyond imagination; would have known and expressed deep and beyond-belief passion for my truth(s). And, truth-be-told, at least the first half of this quote is already true. No epitaph needed (yet); much life yet to live, hope to know, truth to tell, and always: language, language, language…

“…the hope of telling utter truth…”

That’s language, truth, and reality at it’s best. It’s my new credo. It’s everything.
