Lent begins today. As such, I begin a vlog/blog series that speaks to the season, to the wilderness, to shadows, to creating, to beauty. You’re invited to join me! I won’t post every day, but each will be true to the theme, thoughtful, reflective – Lenten-like.
…to create, to take what we find in the shadows of our lives and craft what never before has been seen.
(Jan Richardson)
Join me, won’t you? In Lent, in this wilderness, in the shadows, in the stripping away, in recognizing the Divine within us. Join me in this place where wild beauty dwells.
You’re invited, of course, to come to my site and see/read what I’ve next posted, or subscribe via email or RSS feed in the box to the right.

Oooo – I’m in!
Oooo – I’m so glad! Thank you!!
Very, very intrigued. Been a lurker, unsure about your “message”, but this draws me out. Tentative, but enough to finally comment! I’ll be listening and look forward to the possibilities.
I”m glad you’re drawn out, Jen. I promise I’m not scary. And comment away – even if you totally disagree with me! I would love to hear your perspective and thoughts – on this series or any other posts at any time!
Thanks for responding. I will try and comment my questions more. I would just say at this point that as a woman 40 years in the church culture, I want to believe God cares more about journey, passion, and authenticity than a life of service to my family and biting my tongue…just two examples of what my culture has taught me over the years…but I’m still just sitting on the edge of the pool watching. Haven’t quite dove in yet. But did attend my first Mars Hill workshop last summer (!) and that’s how I found you…I think you’re on a list somewhere of former students who blog.
I totally get it, Jen. More than you know. Grew up in the church. Christian college. Ex-husband a pastor. In the thick of it for many, many years. But have more than made the dive. Went under and now back up – in a different and beautiful pool.
FYI: I worked at MHGS until March of 2009 – and formerly managed the event you probably attended (Story Workshop?). It’s definitely a space that invites beautiful disruption. Glad you found me.
“beautiful and different pool”…hmmm…”beautiful disruption” great description…Ayup! It was fantastic. I do want more!
I’m in, Ronna. I love the journey almost as much as I love the destination these days.
I’m glad, Nicki. The tension/beauty between journey and destination definitely exists. I’m grateful your perspective leans toward journey…at least these days. I go back and forth – sometimes even within 24 hours! Not in theory…but in praxis.
i love that… me being an artist that speaks to me and is a definition of create that ive never before heard . im going to write it down and make a bookmark to read over and over. with me i have to do this so it sinks in and gets into my soul so that i can really feel what it means and says..thanks for sharing. you are awesome..
There’s wild beauty, Michelle! I love that any words I might speak/write would inspire your art – which, in and of itself, is so lovely. I’d love to see what you create. And I’m grateful you are wandering the desert with me.
