I’ve been working on a post – all about authenticity and voice. I had every intention of finishing that up and hitting “publish.” I still might.
But in the midst of thinking about the things that have kept me from being authentic and from listening to that know-that-I-know-that-I-know voice within, a song came on Pandora by one of my favorites: India Arie. I’ve heard it many times before, but today, differently.
Yes, there is work to be done in regards to being authentic. Yes, there is work to be done in learning to silence the voice that critiques. Yes, there is work to be done in speaking/living the voice that is deepest, truest, wisest.
Sometimes I need to stop all the work and just choose.

My past don’t dictate who I am.
I choose.
