Harsh Realities

An article appeared in our local paper this weekend that was upsetting enough to make your blood run cold and yet, it’s easy to dismiss. For me, the ease of dismissal is nearly as disconcerting as the article itself. That said, I hope people take the time to read it, ponder it, and wonder how these and other harmful realities that women face everyday are ignored in our routine, normal realms. And further, will we be aware of how these harsh realities are so woven into the very fabric of our society that even women are unaware of what they face every day, all around them, all the time?

Colleges abandon frightened women
They are the campus rebels, the young women who refuse to play by the rules laid down by a male-dominated culture.
