My daughter, Abby, is singing this weekend in the Washington Music Education Association Solo Ensemble. The only student chosen from her entire middle school, to say I’m proud of her would be a total understatement.
We’ll be traveling over the pass (and through the woods, though not to grandmother’s house) in order to get here there for a full day of rehearsals prior to her afternoon performance. It’s a big deal.
Abby’s value and contribution will be seen and experience in her ability to be part of the chorus…to blend…to harmonize…to compliment.
Abby’s reality is not yours.
There is nothing more genuine than breaking away from the chorus to learn the sound of your own voice.

She’s singing. She’s 13. You’re not.

Ronna,
. I still sang, even if I wasn’t the ‘best’ singer. So yes, sing it loud, my truth does ring true. & Oh, my. What a really wonderful experience for your daughter and you, congrats.
This reminds me of being in elementary school, St.Francis Xavier, and being in the church chorus. I had allot of enthusiasm and would belt out the songs (in latin), but probably not in tune, still loved singing, the music, the group. However the sisters kept nudging me to the back row
I love picturing you in this scene, Callahan! Clearly, you’ve remained consistent.
Beautiful.
Coming from my background, as it is, this sings/speaks volumes to me. Thank you for the reminder, Ronna. We are on the same wavelength. Lots of love, joy, and soloing from the top of the mountain to you today.
