My last post listed 10 things I’m saying “no” to. It’s important: this knowing where to draw the line, where we will stand our ground, what we will no longer tolerate or allow. It’s also important to understand that every “no” is in support of a deeper “yes.”
I have a deeper “yes;” it is true. And…I feel like it’s still forming; bubbling under the surface and working its way into form, substance, and articulated reality. There’s no doubt that it’s powerful, volcanic, and full of force. Steam escapes from time to time; evidence of its/my heat, its/my broiling presence, its/my smoldering desire to burst forth.
I can still feel the part of me that caps it/me off. That is yet another “no” to which I need to commit.
While I work on that, while I continue to say “no” to a number of things, I am grateful to be able to feel the seductive heat of those things to which I can already say “yes.” Each draws me closer to the core of the “yes” that waits to be spoken. Each matters. Each is an articulation and embodiment of the raw heat that brews under the surface.
Take cover. Or don’t. It will be a beautiful thing, this “yes.” And these? Glimmers and glimpses of what now is and what is yet to come:
-
Time with/for my daughters
-
Risking (a broken heart) for love
-
Naming and believing that I am a writer
-
Acknowledging that I am worthy of affirmation, appreciation, and even abject worship
-
Seeing myself as beautiful
-
Carved out, intentional time for actions/efforts that convert to cash
-
Self-care, healthy choices, and exercise
-
Unswerving confidence in a present and future that allows me to do what I love
-
Ample time with new and old friends that nourish, push, encourage, and sustain
-
New images and understandings of the Divine that invite healing, expansiveness, and hope
And you? What are the 10 things (or more) that you’re saying “yes” to? What/Who’s smoldering under the surface, ready to burst forth? Do you dare name your “deeper yes?” I’d LOVE to hear it!

Ronna, it was a nice serendipity that I came across your blog entry this morning. You were suggested to me as a “person of interest” on Twitter
and when I followed through to your site, I remembered I’d been here before. Nice to be back!
What I am saying YES! to:
* being fully present and loving to my husband
* enjoying moving my body for exercise and fun
* quieting my mind to allow for new open space to form
* approaching my writing with ease and flow
* being appreciated AND compensated for my work
* making “mistakes”
* doing 10% less
* stepping up and stepping out
* seeing myself and others as magnificent beings
Ah, that feels good! Thanks for creating the space for these thoughts to come forward, Ronna.
Peace,
Beth

Welcome back, Beth! SO good to have you here (again)! And such a GREAT list of YESes!!! Juicy. Big. Brave. Beautiful!
First, I have to say thank you to Beth Buelow for sharing such great resources like this on her Facebook page.
Second, I love this post because it ties in to productivity…our yesses and our nos help us be wise in how we spend our time.
I have to think a little deeper to come up with a full list – but I know a huge YES for me that sticks out immediately:
*own, appreciate and use my gifts as an introvert
